Informal camping is allowed (on USFS lands), but campfire permits are required. Obtain permits from any USFS or CDF office. During fire season, special regulations may apply where no campfire is allowed. Please do not camp at springs or watering holes. They can be critically-important to wildlife. Remaining at such water sources can be a violation of Fish and Game laws. Lime Saddle Marina, a boater's haven, is an extension of Lake Oroville, on Pentz Road south of Paradise. In great numbers are ski boats, patio boats, and houseboats. It is operated by a private concessionaire under contract and jurisdiction of the State of California Department of Parks and Recreation. Lake Oroville is a State Recreation Area therefore all State of California parking and launching fees apply. With some 160 miles of shoreline you'll find hiking trails, campsites (boat-in), swimming holes, and more. There are picnic facilities, and new camping facilities which opened in 2001. Winter time takes many to the higher elevations on the Ridge for fun in the snow, especially to the Jonesville Snowmobile Park in the Lassen National Forest. This park area features a large parking area, restrooms, and over 50 miles of groomed trails. See the Butte County Guide for camping and recreational facilities off the Ridge.
